Greetings, TEAM Colleton. Today is Thoughtful Thursday! We have the most thoughtful teachers working in our schools! You genuinely care about your students & they know it!. We hope you take advantage of today's special treats from our local businesses. Thank you to: Waffle House (located next to Ruby Tuesday), Subway (the one close to Walmart), Hardee's, & Bucky's Seafood.

It's National School Nurse Day.
Since 1972, National School Nurse Day has been set aside to recognize school nurses.
National School Nurse Day was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting.
School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week. National Nurses Week is May 6-12 each year.

Today, Colleton County School District wishes our teachers a "Wonderful Wednesday"! May your day be filled with empowering students, cultivating minds, helping students grow, encouraging creativity, & shaping futures.

"The Colleton County School District extends its heartfelt thanks to our incredible school nurses for the exceptional care they provide to our students and staff every single day. On National Nurses Day, May 6, 2025, we invite you to join us in celebrating their dedication and compassion. Take a moment to thank a nurse today for all they do!"

Today, Colleton County School District is truly lucky to have teachers that show all the care, understanding, and patience while working with our students! Thank you, TEACHERS, for everything you do!

The students at BSECC had the opportunity to participate in the Colleton Soil & Water Conservation District's annual Poster Contest, sponsored by some amazing people, but most importantly, the late Reverend Gerald Mabry. Four class posters were entered into this contest; Mrs. Holmes, Ms.Burns, Mrs.Avant, and Ms. Gowins' students worked hard on them in the Discovery lab. Taleyah Washington, the BSECC Discovery Lab teacher, worked with these classes to design posters and was honored to have the opportunity to attend their awards banquet on May 1st. We are proud to announce that Mrs. Avant's class won first place! Congratulations to all of our students on such great drawings.

Colleton County School District encourages students to "Thank a Teacher" today by drawing a special picture to show your appreciation.

On Friday, May 2, 2025, Black Street Early Childhood had a very special speaker for Career Week. The Honorable Margie A. Pizarro visited Mr. H. Brown's Guidance Room to speak to two classes about her career. Mr. Brown's students were very attentive. The Honorable Margie Pizarro is a 1987 graduate of Colleton County school District. She informed the students that she had even attended school at that same building when she was younger. Thank you, Judge Pizarro for visiting Black Street Early Childhood Center!
